Keep vitamins fresh

5 minutesOnce a monthEasy

Steps

  1. 1Keep them in a cool, dry cupboard, not the bathroom. Steam from the shower and heat break them down.
  2. 2Close the lid tightly after every use and leave the little drying packet in the bottle.
  3. 3Store them up high or in a locked box, out of children's sight and reach. Gummies look like candy to a child.
  4. 4Check the dates once a month and take old ones to a pharmacy take-back. Follow the label, and ask your doctor or pharmacist about anything you're unsure of.
  • Supplement Facts

The panel on the back shows what's in a serving and how much. Check the serving size, since some are more than one.

  • A testing seal

Supplements aren't approved the way medicines are. A USP or NSF seal means an outside group checked the contents.

  • The date

Vitamins slowly lose strength. Check the best-by date and don't buy more than you'll use.
